Let’s begin with the vital parts of the tower cranes that make the operations possible. To construct a crane, a concrete pad is laid, and the base of the crane is secured to it with large bolts. The concrete pad is crucial to the stability of the crane and the tower crane manufacturers make sure that pad is poured weeks before.

The tower that reaches up to over 265 feet is called mast. It resembles mast of the ships. On top of the mast, there is a mechanical component of crane known as the slewing unit. This unit enables the crane to rotate. It is an essential unit because cranes often have to rotate at great heights.

The jib is the long arm extending out from the crane. The jib is also a word of nautical terminology. In ships, the jib is the sail connected to front or bow from mast. There is another arm that is short and sticks out in the opposite direction of the jib known as the machinery arm. It holds the concrete counterweights for balancing when jib extends load. And on top sits the most critical operator’s cab. It is the cabin where crane professional sits and control the movements and functions of the tower cranes.

Construction Of The Machine

It requires tower crane manufacturers to haul 10 to 12 semi-trucks of all the components for a single crane. Constructing a crane is a complex process especially the growing from the base. The process requires a climber which lifts the top part with the jib, machinery arm, and slewing unit enough so that a section of the mast’s latticework can slide in. The whole process can take over a week as it depends on the height of the crane.

Tower crane manufacturers make sure to equip it with limit switches to prevent overloading. There are two limit switches one is to control the weight other is to control the distance along the jib of the load. The closer the burden to the limit the nearer it would be to the jib.
