Do you know the Essential Parts of Tower Cranes? Here they are

Tower Cranes

The tower cranes parts are comprised of several components that are necessary to perform the construction work. The elements of tower crane are mentioned below:

It is the structure of metal lattice, generally in a square section. The primary mission of mast is to provide sufficient height to the tower crane. Typically the mast is formed through grid modules which facilitate transportation of the crane. To assemble mast, these modules will be joined by screws. All of which will be annexed up to desired height.  Its dimension and shape differ according to compulsory properties of height and weight. In the mast’s upper area there is a rotating area that provides the crane, a horizontal movement of 360 degrees. Further, depending upon the model, you can make a cabin for the operation by the worker or operator.

A jib is a metal grid structure of a usually triangular section, whose primary work is to provide the crane with the specified range or radius. It is also termed a pen. In line with the mast, it typically contains a modular structure for the facilitation of its transport. To move the expert personnel during the maintenance, revision and assembly work along the arrow. Also, there is a safety cable and longitudinal element. For the component and the wire, a safety conveyor belt can be connected.

A trolley comprises of a car that goes along the arrow via same lanes. The movement provides the essential manoeuvrability in the tower crane. Trolley is metallic so that it can support the weight for lifting.

Tower Crane Base

Following are the components that form part of the tower crane base.

It is a predetermined concrete structure which is placed for stabilizing the weight and inertia that happens in the crane’s arrow. Counterweight stabilizes the crane both;

  • In operation, and
  • At rest

The countershaft’s length oscillates between 30 and 35 per cent of the boom’s length. Counterweights are placed at the end of the counter jib. It is attached with the arrow to the mast area opposite to the union. Counter jib forms a robust base through several metal profile. Eventually, it makes the path to help the person to move from the mast to the counterweights.

Central Ballast

Central ballast can be made via a bruised shoe or through several pieces of prefabricated concrete at the crane’s base. The ballast’s function is to settle the crane against the weight it can transfer, its own weight and the adverse environmental condition.

The elevation cable is considered as among the most delicate crane parts. For extracting the adequate performance, it must be utilized and maintained correctly. The hook must be given appropriate tension, and there must be a periodic follow-up to be carried out. The monitoring and tension will help during the hook’s winding in the drum. It does not cross over as it can cause crushing.

Wrap Up

For tower cranes manufacturers, even a smallest of screw matters a lot. Therefore, tower crane suppliers need to know the above bits.
